McLean, VA (January 23, 2020) —  The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) is pleased to announce that seven Research Science Institute (RSI) alumni are among the top 40 finalists in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2020, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.

“This is a wonderful accomplishment for Research Science Institute alumni and CEE,” said Joann DiGennaro, CEE President. “I am so very proud of these students who represent the future of U.S. global leadership in science and technology.”

The list of RSI alumni finalists and their research topics can be viewed here. The students are geographically represented from across the United States.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search finalists were selected from 300 scholars andfrom nearly 2,000 entrants based on the originality and creativity of their scientific research, as well as their achievement and leadership both inside and outside of the classroom.

The finalists will travel to Washington, D.C. from March 5-11, 2020, where they will undergo a rigorous judging process and compete for more than $1.8 million in awards. They will also have an opportunity to interact with leading scientists, meet with Members of Congress and display their projects to the public on March 8.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search provides students a national stage to present original research and celebrates the hard work and novel discoveries of young scientists who are bringing a fresh perspective to significant global challenges.
